Fit a 27mm clip-on regulator to a propane leisure bottle and leak-test the connections. Open the gas, hold in the control knob and use the ignition until the flame rises up the glass tube, then set the flame height. See the manual for the exact steps.
It does both. The tall flame in the glass tube is a decorative centrepiece, but at 13kW it also gives genuine radiant warmth over a circle of roughly a couple of metres around it. Sit within that area to feel the heat.
A weak, yellow or dropping flame is usually a low or cold bottle, a dirty burner, or wind. Check the bottle has gas and isn't cold, shield the heater from strong draughts, and clean the burner and air inlets. If it persists, inspect the burner and regulator for damage.
With the heater cool and the gas disconnected, release the metal connectors at the top and bottom of the tube, remove the broken glass carefully, fit the correct replacement tube for your model and re-secure the connectors.
It runs on propane via a 27mm clip-on regulator — an 11kg leisure bottle or 10kg Gaslight suits it well. At 13kW, expect roughly 11 hours from an 11kg bottle and about 10 hours from a 10kg Gaslight.
